Task-Specific Focal Dystonia

The most common form of dystonia, characterized by MUSCLE SPASMS that occur during the performance of specific learned motor tasks such as writing or playing a musical instrument. They interfere with the performance of that task while other actions are unaffected. Frequency is 1 in 3400 in the general population and 1 in 200 among musicians; it appears to exhibit autosomal dominant inheritance. OMIM: 611284
