Thyroid Nuclear Factor 1

A homeobox protein and transcription factor that localizes to the cell nucleus where it activates expression of thyroid specific genes such as THYROGLOBULIN and the THYROTROPIN RECEPTOR. It is critical for maintaining thyroid tissue in a differentiated state and also plays a role in lung development. Mutations in the NKX2-1 gene are associated with CHOREA, BENIGN HEREDITARY.

12/01/2021 - "Immunostaining revealed that the tumor cells were negative for thyroid transcription factor 1 but positive for Wilms tumor 1. The tumor additionally exhibited strong membranous CD56 expression and patchy p53 expression, both of which were inconsistent with the characteristics of ovarian HGSC. "
01/01/2011 - "Morphology in association with a small panel of immunostains including thyroid transcription factor 1, estrogen receptor, mammaglobin, Wilms tumor antigen 1, CA125 and CDX2 proved helpful in identifying the primary origin in 94% of cases. "
07/01/2017 - "Calretinin and cytokeratin 5 were used for reactive mesothelial cells and Wilms tumor 1, thyroid transcription factor 1, CDX2, and estrogen receptor were used to confirm the adenocarcinoma cells. "
10/04/2023 - "The epithelial component ranged from a bland appearance in areas diagnostic of adenosarcoma to a clearly invasive carcinoma, both with mesonephric-like phenotype, being negative for estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and Wilms' tumor 1, variably positive for paired box gene 8, GATA binding protein 3, and thyroid transcription factor 1, with a wild-type p53 expression. "
09/13/2016 - " stained 45 non-small cell lung cancer samples (32 adenocarcinomas and 13 squamous cell carcinomas) with a monoclonal antibody for BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) and also with an IHC panel we routinely use to help differentiate MM from carcinomas, which include, calretinin, Wilms Tumor 1, cytokeratin 5, podoplanin D2-40, pankeratin CAM5.2, thyroid transcription factor 1, Napsin-A, and p63.
